HOT AND COLD START BY SA5

MCC SA5 began the season with a loss and a victory, however much more positives than negatives have been realised.

Their first outing against Lenasia Crescents began with a brisk start by newly promoted batsman Nasief Seedat and stalwart Ebrahim Kadwa, who raced to a 50 run partnership. Kadwa soon fell, and Nasief looked the part of a classy left-hander, and eventually fell for a well played 56 in quick time.

MCC eventually ended on a competitive 131.
The chase by crescents began on a high, with ball flying all over tech grounds. Few wickets slowed the stem, however in the 20 over format and the pressure all the time on the fielding side, it showed with Crescents wrapping the game up in the 19th over.

A thoroughly enjoyable game nonetheless, and Man of the Match went to Nasief.

In the second outing MCC SA5 travelled to Heidelburg due to a drenched pitch at home. Heidelburg won the toss, and chose to bat. Zubair Patel (Patrao) and Nasief handled the first 6 overs rather well, and in 10 overs Heidelburg were 47/2.
After 15 they mustered 92, and fielding with 9 showed in last 5 as the hosts ended on 137/5 in 20.
Patrao 2/28
Nasief 1/24
Mayur 0/20
Kadwa 0/18
Ajay 1/45

The chase was magnificent. Brisk start, and consolidation with calculated risks. Game ending in the 19th over with Man of the Match Farhaad scoring 70*

The 20 over format is looking to be highly competitive with decision making and field playing key in succeeding in this action packed game. It is definatly enjoyable.
